Theo Debackere

Associate Trader

Theo Debackere joined Kelman-Lazarov in 2025 as an Associate Trader. He supports both the investment and advisory teams by preparing and trading client portfolios, managing reporting and billing for managed accounts, and contributing to investment research and analysis that informs portfolio management decisions.

Originally from France, Theo moved to New Orleans in 2019 to play collegiate tennis and pursue his studies in finance. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Loyola University New Orleans in 2023, where he was a student-athlete on the men’s tennis team. He went on to complete his Master of Finance degree at Tulane University in 2024 and passed the CFA Level I exam in August 2023.

Prior to joining Kelman-Lazarov, Theo interned as an Equity Research Analyst at Algorithm Capital, where he gained hands-on experience in portfolio and investment management. His academic and professional background has equipped him with a strong foundation in financial analysis and research.

Theo values Kelman-Lazarov’s collaborative and client-focused culture, which mirrors the teamwork and discipline he developed through his athletic career. Outside of work, he enjoys running marathons and ultramarathons, weightlifting, playing and coaching tennis, reading (especially the Red Rising saga), and exploring Memphis barbecue. He looks forward to becoming involved in local organizations that promote healthier living through education on food and nutrition.
